Evilution Part 2: Back To Attack

When it comes to evolving bands, Powergod pretty much take the cake. They started out as melodic German power to turn into American style semi-thrash. Their second part in their ‘Evilution’ trilogy is called ‘Back To Attack’ and on this album they hit a pretty good balance between the two styles. To be more exact the album is essentially U.S. speed/power, with a couple of songs breathing a more ‘European’ air like ‘The Eagle And The Rainbow’. Sharp riffs, tons of shredding, bombastic drums and powerful vocals that can easily shift from high to low range are their basic traits. The musicianship is excellent, as all members who go by the nicknames Riff Randal (Andy Brings ex-Sodom), President Evil (Alex Koch from Winters Bane and Spiral Tower) and Hamma Hart (Haan Hartmann from Winters Bane) are veterans of the German scene. So if you can think of a sound reminiscent of second era Angeldust meets Annihilator, you're pretty close to what Powergod have to offer. Track listing: 1. Back To Attack 2. Lost Illusions 3.
