Description:
When it comes to evolving bands, Powergod pretty much take the cake. They started out as melodic German power to turn into American style semi-thrash. Their third part in their ‘Evilution’ trilogy is called ‘Nemesis’ unfortunately it lacks freshness, enthusiasm and conviction and doesn’t kick as from the beginning to the end as the second part did. There still are some speed metal tracks on Part III ('Call Of Freedom', 'Courtroom Of Traitors', 'Reduced To The Maximum', '6-4-5'). But as soon as the tempo of the music diminishes it tends to get somewhat boring, and tracks like 'Got Milk' en 'Parting Gift' sounds a bit obliged. It seems Powergod is unable to give the slower songs that same kick as they did on Part II, and that is just too bad. Similar to Part II the album finishes with an epic track lasting eleven minutes, entitled 'Evilution Part III'. The album has its stand out moment but as a whole it feels almost like using the same teabag for a second cup, it kind of tastes the same, but it lacks power and conviction.
